Last Cruise of the Season September Magnolia Our Beautiful Boy Morning yoga on the deck is quickly becoming one of my very favorite things. I have been a fan of yoga for a long time, but have never worked it into my life on anywhere near the regular basis I am right now. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Not only is it a gentle way to get really strong, but if you can practice it in a spot you really love (the way I love the view from this deck), I think it has double the positive benefits. If you pass my house this week and really pay attention, you might notice that it is turning to summer - everywhere except on my front porch. There, it is still spring. Here's why: A mama bird has chosen the top of one of my spring door wreaths as the perfect spot to hide her babies-to-be. She tends them faithfully. Even though it doesn't make for the most cohesive look around here, as far as I am concerned, the front porch can wait for summer until she launches them into the world. We mamas need to help each other out - every chance we get. ;) Glass of wine. Quiet. Writing. Some of my favorite things. Dandelions: "Just a Weed" ~ Unless you have ever received them from the grubby little hand of a little boy who smells like "outside" as he hands you the "flowers" he picked for you. In that case, to you, they are forever "flowers", and will always make you smile. Ask me how I know... My beautiful birthday cake: Courtesy of my beautiful daughter, and the special recipe that only she and I share. One thoughtful gesture can turn an entire day around. Beautiful flowers from a beautiful, sweet girl. Wildflowers from a beautiful evening walk with my kids. A "Living Salad Bowl"! I am so excited to try growing it this season. I found it at Menards, where they had a few different varieties. Mine contains red and green leaf lettuce, spinach, parsley, chives, and basil.
